When Bows Meet Physics

Hi darlings,

so sorry for not posting in quite a while... It's been two rough weeks with hardly any sleep and loads of work. With my boyfriend being away I have to do all the stuff he is supposed to do, I'm terribly stressed out because we're moving in a week (yes in ONE week) and my head is filled with derivations, formulas and DNA (well, it's filled with DNA anyway, but you know what I mean, don't you).
I actually took some outfit shots a couple of days ago (in my boyfriends room after packing up his stuff - don't look at the background as it's kind of messy).

It's a shame you can't see my shoes - they're my favourite.

Well, at least I can show you my favourite necklace! I just looove bows! Did you notice the bow in my hair?

Well then, I'll go and answer my tutorial questions now because I have to hand them in until... You don't want to know. Very soon.

Love,
Nora

Something About Second First Days Is Reassuring

Hejhej,

I just got back from my first day at university although it wasn't really my first day. But still my first day as a biology student. And I have to say, I feel so much more comfortable now. A year ago when I started studying German and English it felt so wrong to go to university. I really wasn't ready. But now it's perfect. I feel like a student and I guess I also start acting like one...
But I was also really lucky today. When I started German last year I met such a nice girl. And by coincidence today, in the totally overcrowded lecture hall (I was late - as alwyas), I sat next to her. Well, she gave up German too. And also one of the coolest guys I've ever met started studying biology which is just great.
What is not so great is that my boyfriend had to go to military service yesterday meaning that I'll be all alone for three long weeks. I could hardly sleep last night because I'm so used to his snoring =) At least we won't fight over furniture for the next three weeks. But hey, boys just don't know what's pretty!
I'd love to show you some outfit shots some time, but somehow I don't manage to get such good pictures as you do. Maybe somebody can explain to me how you take a picture with your head and your shoes on it? I'd be grateful!
Oh, and I almost forgot: Alla Vi Barn i Bullerbyn came through the mail yesterday, and I just love it! If I ever have a daughter her name will be Lisa! Or maybe Lena, which is a great name too. What names would you like to give your children?
Well, then goodbye to all you eukaryotes out there! (I'm sorry, but I'll probably swamp my blog with biological words from now on =))

Waiting for Autumn in a Wood of Nines

Hejhej darlings,

today is the favourite day of my life, because it's the 09/09/09. I actually should be getting married today =) Nine has always been my favouritee number. Not just because I was born on a nintht, but also because my favourite football player (which whom I was very much in love when I was younger) had the number nine and just because nine is great!

I'm currently waiting for autumn to come, it's my favourite season. Unfortunately it always seems to slip past me so quickly and before I notice it's already winter. I'd like to share some autumn spirit with you.

Gathering Leaves

by Robert Frost

Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.
I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.
But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.
I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?
Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.
Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who's to say where
The harvest shall stop?

Why Trenchcoats Make Me Cry

A tiny island I recently found on the river.

Hey folks,

phew, it has been a rough week... But yesterday was the final day of my maths course - I thought it would never end.
I'm very happy because suddenly summer went and atumn came. A few days ago it was raining heavily and I was walking to university in my new trenchcoat, listening to Kate Rusby and I suddenly felt so homesick, homesick for England... God, how I miss my island. I haven't been there in more than a year and I miss the weather, the people, the smell, the pubs, the food... I miss how being at home feels. It's such a wonderful feeling. I never really felt like being Swiss, I don't like this country and the city I live in is about the only nice place here. But still, in my heart it's not my home. And when I first went to England - it was an amazing feeling. Somehow so comfortable and just right.
I know I said I'd give up on England, but I just can't. Yesterday (well, more likely today) I went to two pubs with some friends, and it looked so very authentic in there, so I have some tiny spaces of good old England here which makes feel kind of safe until I visit Dear Old Blighty again.
But I guess I won't be able to go back in the next couple of months, so I'll have to continue living with my heart in England and my body here...

If you'd like to feel a little of my longing for the United Kingdom too, why don't you try listening to The Cranberries (or just Dolores O'Riordan), Amy Macdonald, Kate Rusby, Black Box Recorder (my favourite band!) or Sandi Thom.

Now I'll be off dancing in the rain and dreaming about green hills, white cliffs and windy sea shores.

Love,
Nora

Maths is Nothing for Blondes

Hey Darlings,

I'm sorry for not posting any pictures of my new hair colour yet, but it has been a very busy few days! Saturday was the ultimate handball day, I was in the sports hall from morning till late evening... And we lost our game. But our opponents were really good. But that's enough talking about sports, let's get to business!

I really like my new colour, and this is about the first time I didn't cry for days after messing around with my hair =)

Today started my maths course. It's a preparation for my biology course which will start in two weeks. Well, it was just an awful day: Maths from 8.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m. How will I possibly survive this week? And of course I didn't get any of the stuff at all. Well, let's see what happens tomorrow, shall we.

God natt och dröm söt

Baby Bears, Cute Lynxes and a Soon-To-Be Blonde

Hej allihopa (tack så mycket Ariella =) ),

they day has come on which i shall be dark haired no further more! And what a tough job it was to choose the colour. As my natural hair colour is brown with reddish highlights I didn't want to go straight nordic blond. So I decided to take a nice dark blonde and maybe next time I'll go blonder.
I haven't coloured my hair yet (so I haven't got anything to complain about yet), but I'm going to do so later this evening (colour and complain) and of course I'll document it.

Now, as promised some pictures from Stockholm (unfortunately our camera ran out of battery and I put it in the charger the wrong way around, so we couldn't take a lot of pictures). They're mostly from animals in the open-air exhibition "Skansen".

My favourite fountain!

An angry-looking swan =)

Me in the hotel room

Sleepy wolves

A cute, cute lynx!

I actually wanted to take it home with me, but my boyfriend said no...

Haha. I just realised that there are no pictures from the city itself. Well, at least a reason to go again.

Now I'm watching Alla Vi Barn I Bullerbyn on YouTube (click here if you want to watch it too), it used to be my favourite book when I was 5 years old, I read it again and again and again...

Well, I guess you'll hear from me later this evening with a report about me trying to become a Swedish girl =)

Feel hugged ♥

When The Chickens Start Plotting

Hello my darlings,

I've had a great day today because I spent it in front of my laptop playing the new Playfish game "Country Story" on Facebook. It's my last week of holiday, if that's an excuse... And I was doing so great, finished a quest, got a cute yellow baby chicken (which you usually just get by paying real money) and what happened? On my next visit it had turned into a plot where you can plant seeds.
Yesterday I went to the cinema with my boyfriend and we watched "Inglorious Basterds". What a movie! The story is brillant, the actors are brilliant and the realisation is just amazing. Bloody, ugly and incredibly funny.
I took some pictures while walking to the cinema that I'd like to share with you =)

Me just before going to the cinema

My dream house! God, it's so beautiful and fairytaleish!

Yes! A lantern. How cool.

La nuit tous les chats sont gris.

I'm starting to get tired... But isn't this an adorable baby lion?

And good night, Madame Folle!

Now, if anyone could tell me whether I should dye my hair blonde? I'd be grateful, because I just don't know if I should really do it. Eh, you'd like to have my problems, wouldn't you. But believe me, problems are coming, my maths course starts next monday... I'll show you some pics of Stockholm tomorrow (but none of myself, as I looked like a very unswedish pig when we were there).

It Smells Like Arlanda Airport at IKEA

Salut mes amours,

I'm having quite a French Day today, at least concerning my new Bourjois loose powder which comes in a gorgeous box and my Le Petit Marseillais body lotion which smells like heaven =)
It's not that nothing strange or embarassing happened to me today, but I actually wanted to tell you about my Lifetime Wish (yes, I'm a Sim! And one of my traits is "insane" while another one is "childish"). I've always loved England very much, you could almost say I'm anglophile. Whenever I went back home from the beautiful island, it felt like leaving home. And I always wanted to go and live there. But one has to move on with one's life, and so I decided for my Lifetime Wish to be living in Sweden. As I'm starting to study biology and planning to go into marine biology it would have to be near the sea. And not in a big city itself, but near one. And in a cute Swedish house with a nice garden and lots of children. And a cat and a dog and some cute furry rabbits. Ah, what a dream.
Speking of Sweden: I never really thought IKEA or H&M were really that Swedish, I always thought they were just a cheap fake. But I was so, so wrong. People really dress like H&M and they furnish their homes like IKEA. And the best of it is: It smells Swedish at IKEA; it really does. And I must admitt: I love it. I love it so much that I only dress in hish-waist skirts and white tank tops at the moment and I'm going to dye my dark hair blonde. Maybe.
I'm already looking forward to jultid when (thanks to IKEA) I'll be baking elk-shaped gingerbread and dala-horse-shaped cakes. Oh and how badly I want to spend Christmas in Sweden, but I'm afraid that won't be happening very soon. For now I'll have to be satisfied with learning Swedish, reading Swedish books and watching Swedish movies. Jag saknar dig, Sverige!
Now your Swedophile will stop writing because she can barely keep her eyes open and wants to start dreaming about her obsession with IKEA and H&M.
Nightynight ♥

Not Just My Chocolate is Melting Away

Good Morning, Good Evening, Hello, Goodbye.

I have to be honest: Summer is A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G me. Really, really annoying me. How can it possibly be that hot? It's just not fun anymore. And imagine how it feels to spend the evening in a sports hall playing handball. Just fun.
It was a really bad day today anyway. But not just because of the heat, no. Since the game on tuesday I can't sit or walk properly because my coccyx (what a word!) hurts so badly. And I can't even remember falling on it. I can't remember falling at all.
Today I wanted to go shopping. But it was just too hot to be in the mood to actually try anything on. And what a wonderful entrance I made at the local ZARA store: I managed to knock over an entire clothes rail... Haha. Let's not talk about it anymore. Then at the H&M an elderly lady walked into me and then started shouting and swearing... Haha again. When I came home I barely had time to eat something, because I had to go to my handball practise, where I sucked like the last monkeybum alive. And now guess what?! I wanted to eat some chocolate to cheer me up, but it's all melted, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Another day on which I died about 10 times and that will be added to the "Worst-Days-Of-My-Life"-List.
And now, I'll end one of the Worst Days of My Young Life by going to sleep while watching some TV. Ha! I conquered fate.

God natt och dröm söt och tack för att lyssna på mina stönande (I just love the Swedish language, and I'll tell you about my Lifetime Wish tomorrow).

Amarena, Bacio and Lots of Pain

Hey everyone,

I had a very nice and lazy, but quite painful day. I slept until 11.00 a.m. and spent the day mostly at home, as my back hurts so terribly I can hardly walk.
But tonight I "visited" a friend of mine who works at a Gelateria and ate loads and loads of ice cream. I was there for four hours and it was very interesting to watch people. Lots of women for example apologized for eating more than one scoop of ice cream. And of course they were all thin as a salt stick. Oh, and very "ha ha!": My friend let me taste the two absolutely worst flavours they sell (the rest of the flavours taste all really great) and the next customer took exactly these two... And quite a few people were unfriendly and complained about the prices or what ever they had to complain about. Now I'm back at my boyfriend's and watching the very first episode of CSI (don't you just love
CSI? I think CSI Las Vegas is the best, I don't relly like the others. But I also like Criminal Minds a lot. I love to watch TV series anyway, but more on that some other time).
And I discovered another gap in the market today (doing this is kind of a quirk of mine, but I so desperately want to make the invention of the millenium, earn loads of money with it and never have to work again in my life =) ): We don't have a really proper gelateria in town, you know one that sells great sundaes and waffles with ice cream and all that stuff. It would be really nice to have one here. But who's going to give me the starting capital, and would people really come? How nice would it be if you could just test such things, without having to fear about losing money? But we have games like SIMS for that, don't we. That's something else I always wish for: Imagine being able to hit CTRL, Shift, C on some pocket computer and then wrting "motherlode" into the cheat bar, and then you'd just be 50'000 Euros/Dollars/whatsoever richer. Or if you could change your looks like you change the looks of your Sims. Aaah, what a dream, what a dream.
Speaking about dreams, I'm off now to dream properly about fairies, gnomes and probably ice cream.

Hejdå och till nästa gång ♥

Six Out of Seven and a Hungry Hamster

Hey there,

just back from our first test game this season and the first time I played on the left backcourt position (normaly occupied by our amazing goal getter... hard work for me) but I am very satisfied with myself (which is a very uncommon and rare occasion), because I finally had the guts to throw that stupid ball into the goal. And I'm also very happy because we won the game 29:21, and believe me, it didn't look like that in the beginning! (If you're not a handballl crack, but would like to know what I'm talking about, take a look at the Wikipedia article).
As for the hungry hamster: I went home from my boyfriend today and the whole floor of my room was covered with my hamster's food and litter and when I opened my wardrobe she sat there (and I have no clue how she got out of her cage... Maybe a Hamster-Houdini?). To make a long story short, I finally caught her (in a shoe) and then I saw that she ruined my boyfriends favourite jumper... She obviously likes to eat Swedish clothes. Luckily he didn't care (but of course I was hysteric about it). Well, a day with many happy endings.
Now I'm lying on the bed writing this post and in about ten minutes I can finally give my birthday present to my boyfriend. It's just so terrible, as soon as I buy a gift for somebody, I just can't wait to give it to them, they need to have it immediately, now, straight away! It makes me sooo edgy when I have to wait.
Right, folks, that's enough written for today. Have a nice *insert current daytime* and you'll read from me tomorrow, I'm sure I have some more stories to tell, because strange stuff somehow always seems to happen to me...

So This is IT and ME

Wow, I've finally got my own blog. I still can't really believe it , because I have put quite an amount of thought into creating a blog, but couldn't really push myself to actually doing it until now.
Maybe a quick introduction to my dear not-yet-existing readers: I'm an 18-year-old human being, too old to be called a teen, but still too young to be called a woman. I'm very interested in running foolishly around a sports hall chasing after a handball and once a week I make sure we have decent fledgling players in our club. Besides I'll start my biology course in a few weeks time and I'm very curious if I'm going to like it. Unfortunately these two things take up a lot of time, but I hope I'll still find a few moments to pursue some other of my interests like reading, being creative and - how else could it be - hanging around in my twisted mind (which from now on will be online and available to the whole world - somehow scary, don't you think?)
Furthermore I like (baby) animals (especially elks, cats and nibbling rodents), travelling (to England and Stockholm), coming home, the IKEA catalogue, smoothies, eating loads of anything tasty and really cold, wet and ugly weather. What I hate can be said in one word which is BANANAS, but let's not talk about those disgusting, evil things anymore (I once founded my own religion and the main rule is "Bananas are evil", which you are free to join if you too think bananas should be banned from this planet).
Well, what else can I add to this short description? I've got a monkey as a boyfriend, 4 computer freaks as siblings (and one of them is only two and a half years old!) and a housework maniac as a mom who somehow managed to get herself a not-very-tidy "current squeeze" (as she insists), but I have to admitt being très heureuse about all that.
So, that's enough for just now and I'll be off to pet some baby elks, eat tons of spaghettis cooked by a monkey, kill some long yellow fruits and then go to handball practice.

Farewell, and until we read again.
